A few words about me . . .

I was born in New Jersey and spent the first twenty-six years of my life there before moving to California in the summer of 1997. I was an English major in college, so I would normally eschew such a trite, boring start to a biographical sketch. But it's important to learn that as the first thing you need to understand about me. My life has been a series of journeys, both geographical and existential.
I began teaching in the 1992-93 school year in an urban junior high school. That was crazy. But it was a good start for me, because it taught me how to do the best I could with what little I had at my disposal. It sure is a sharp contrast from the private Christian elementary and middle school where I spent fourteen years, and my current school, where I've been since 2012. I have lived in New Jersey, California, Ireland, and California (my favorite) again. I have worked in industry and taught in just about every imaginable situation, grade level, and subject matter.
I am glad to have landed in technology education for grades one through eight, and most recently moved to a private independent high school where I am in learning innovation and design.
I have a wonderful young adult son, and I currently serve about 800 students and around 100 teachers. Good thing I love kids, eh?
You can read my resume on another part of this site, so I will spare you all the gory details here. What is important in my life now is that I feel blessed to have access and permission to do a lot of really fun technology integration with my teachers and their students. The challenge, at times, is getting my colleagues to grasp the relevance of the tools. This can sometimes get in the way of the grand plans I dream up, but we always make it work somehow. I pursued my Masters degree in Educational Technology so I could become better at making it work the first time around.
