Overview of Instructional Package This package should include: * Introduction * Rationale for selection of media based on design document and analysis * (Optional) Use of Bloom’s Taxonomy Table to map and check alignment between objectives, activities, and assessment methods * Teacher guide * Student guide with instructional materials * Assessment
The activities covered for the instructional package materials are: 1. Entering coordinates into a GPS receiver 2. Using GPS receiver to navigate to given coordinates 3. Finding a geocache (once you “get there”)
The teacher guide will direct the instructor through using the “PowerPoint” flip chart, with references to pages in the student guide (“participant handbook”) as relevant. The teacher guide will also give links to web resources, including videos, which will give background and modeling for presenting the content in the flip chart.
The student guide (called the “participant handbook” as it is aimed at adult and child members of families) will include materials referred to in the class time as well as references to help with operation of the GPS receiver used during the classes and other reference materials that can be used later, outside the class, during future outings. (See design document for what is to be included.)
Instructional Materials include the flip chart for the instructor, GPS receivers, information (including coordinates) about hidden geocaches – these must be created or downloaded from geocaching.com by the instructor specific to the class location being used, and materials about hazards for terminal objective five as needed.
Assessment will take place in the form of a checklist done during/after the outdoor class, with an online follow-up survey for each participant to fill in from home.
